Your new role

An exciting opportunity is available for an established leader. We are seeking a new Youth Services Coordinator who will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of services to young people, their families and carers as well as youth service providers in Knox. The role will have oversight of planning, policy and strategic development to enhance service delivery and implementation of an annual program of services.

The Youth Services Coordinator is responsible for operations, resourcing and activation of The Youth Hive - a dedicated area for young people within the Knox Library. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholder will assist to optimise service efficiency, including advocacy with and on behalf of young people.

The role will report directly to the Manager Community Access and Support and form part of the department's leadership team.

This is a full time permanent role based at Civic Building however will be required to work at The Hive. We can offer a range of flexible work options for the right candidate.

This is a Band 7 classified role, remuneration will be $107,507.54 - $120,572.47 (depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.

What you will need to thrive

The key selection criteria for this role are:

  • Extensive experience in Youth Services or community development with direct Local Government experience desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in youth services, policy development, project management and hands on administration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current issues relating to young people.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a team to deliver quality customer centric services.
  • Ability to manage and develop staff to achieve their full potential.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to prepare reports, to network and develop strong ongoing relationships and to communicate with influence in the public arena.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team in a changing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in overseeing funding agreements.
  • Experience in and understanding of managing competing priorities and needs of multiple stakeholders, within a political environment.
  • Experience in community development, consultation and liaison.
