About the role 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Minor Works Foreperson to join our Civil Construction Team. As our new Minor Works Foreperson, you will make a difference daily by ensuring civil engineering projects are undertaken in a safe, efficient and responsible manner.  The role assists the delivery of Council’s infrastructure maintenance and capital works programs by providing supervision and on-site instructions to Civil Construction staff and contractors. It involves a wide variety of civil infrastructure projects including drainage construction, pavement construction, retaining walls, earthworks, fencing, minor concrete works, footpath construction, and other minor civil construction projects.

This is a full-time permanent role based at the Knox City Council Operations Centre. We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs of the role are met.

This is a Band 5 classified role. Remuneration will be $80,377.95 to $93,517.76 gross per annum (depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee. 

What you will bring to this role  

The key selection criteria for this role are: 

• Extensive experience in the delivery of a wide variety of civil construction projects including task allocation and supervision of construction personnel.
  
  
• Demonstrated experience performing general labouring duties to facilitate the renewal and rehabilitation of community assets.
  
  
• Demonstrated experience in municipal construction supervision and a good knowledge of civil engineering operations including concreting, earthmoving plant and equipment, asphalt laying, drainage works and retaining structures.
  
  
• A high degree of interpersonal skills.
  
  
• The ability and willingness to teach in the areas applicable to this position.
  
  
• The ability to analyse problems and make informed decisions on day-to-day basis.
  
  
• Ability to provide sketches and perform calculations for the purposes of accurately delivering civil construction projects (i.e. setting out, working out grade lines, ordering materials, etc.)
  
  
• Achieve results through efficient use of resources and a commitment to quality outcomes.
