About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for a Strategy and Planning Specialist to join our Strategy & Transformation department for the next 12 weeks.
Over the next 12 weeks, you will:
- Facilitate workshops with each department to embed their understanding of and connection to our strategic priorities.
- Design, coordinate, facilitate and prepare all relevant materials for strategic planning workshops for the development of our 2026-2027 Annual Plan and Budget
- Assist in the launch of the annual planning cycle, including the development of communications materials
- Assist with the design and delivery of the August leader’s forum focused on the launch of Council’s strategic priorities
- Assist with the coordination and delivery of the Annual Plan and Budget 2026-2027 community engagement and public submissions process.
- Prepare Executive and Councillor materials in relation to the annual planning cycle.
We are looking for someone who has extensive experience in designing and facilitating workshops. You will adopt an evidence-based approach to strategic planning, bringing insights, including data and community engagement outcomes, into the design of each session and ensuring the materials are relatable to all staff.
This is a full-time temporary role based at our Civic Centre. We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs of the role are met.
This is a Band 7 classified role. Remuneration will be $110,732.77 to $124,189.64 (depending on experience) pro-rata plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.
What you will bring to this role
The key selection criteria for this role are:
- Knowledge and experience in strategic planning
- Demonstrated ability to design, facilitate and record outcomes of strategic planning workshops.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and engage effectively with a wide range of people, ability to determine stakeholder issues and explain complex issues and concepts.
- Strong understanding/knowledge, skills and proficiency in cross-organisational project management.
- High level of proficiency in writing of plans and reports.
- Ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders, on time and within budget.
- Experience in training and coaching in new processes and tools.
- Strong and demonstrated commitment to building relationships and working on a collaborative basis with both internal and external stakeholders.
- A good understanding of and the ability to work within a political environment
- Strong team player with a high level of emotional intelligence, critical self-awareness, the capacity to reflect and learn and the ability to exercise sound judgement.
- Personal values and behaviours aligned to those of Knox City Council.
