Room Leader - Diploma Qualified Early Childhood Educator - Full time - Fixed term position until August 7th 2026.
About the role:
We are seeking a temporary full time dedicated Room Leader who is looking to succeed within a leadership role for the Long Day Care programs in the 0-3 precinct, offered at Knox City Council’s Children and Family Centres in Bayswater and Wantirna South.
The Room leader role is an opportunity to broaden and build relationships and connections with colleagues and community. Professional practice is strengthened through opportunities to share and develop knowledge, skills and expertise with a wider team.
As a Diploma qualified Room Leader working for Knox, you will be responsible for delivering a high standard of care to children aged 0-6 years, overseeing the day-to-day operation of the room including the supervision of Diploma and Certificate III Educators, maintaining compliance within relevant laws, regulations, quality standards and approved frameworks, develop and implement a high-quality child focused educational program for children aged 0-6 years, lead collaboration with educators and families and work effectively with colleagues in the Hubs and across Council.

This is a Band 4 classified role; remuneration will be $73,349.33 - $78,124.95 pro-rata (depending on experience) plus Room Leader allowance and superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.
What you will to bring to this role as a highly skilled Diploma Educator who demonstrates:
- Excellent/outstanding/highly regarded skills as a Diploma Educator;
- Contemporary knowledge of recognised best practice for Early Childhood Education and Care Services;
- Understanding of and the ability to provide leadership in relation to Knox Policies and Procedures, values, VEYLDF, National Quality Standards and the Pyramid Model;
- Strong understanding and implementation of relevant Laws, Regulations, standards and approved frameworks; and
- Ability to act as Responsible Person in day-to-day charge of the service.
