About the role
As our new Senior Rates and Valuations Officer, you will play a key role in delivering accurate, compliant and customer-focused rates and valuation services. You will provide specialist technical advice across rates, property and valuation functions while supporting the effective day-to-day operations of the team.
Working closely with the Coordinator Rates and Valuations, you will support operational delivery across the function. Key responsibilities include overseeing the levying, billing, collection and reconciliation of rates revenue, maintaining the integrity of rates, property and valuation data, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and contributing to system improvements and process enhancements.
This role offers the opportunity to bring your rates and valuations expertise to a pivotal senior position where you will play a key supporting role in driving best practice, strengthening compliance and governance, and enhancing the integrity and performance of Council’s rates and valuation services.
This is a full time, permanent role based at Knox Civic Centre. We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs of the role are met.
This is a Band 6 classified role. Remuneration will be $98,353.35 to $107,416.64 (depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.
What you will bring to this role
The key selection criteria for this role are:
- Demonstrated experience in rates, valuations, revenue or regulatory functions within local government or a similar environment.
- Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and statutory requirements, with the ability to interpret and apply regulatory provisions.
- Proven ability to provide technical guidance and support to colleagues to ensure consistent, accurate and compliant service delivery.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, including experience in financial reconciliations and data integrity processes.
- Well-developed problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate competing demands.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with ratepayers and stakeholders.
- Strong systems capability, including Microsoft Office and rates/valuation systems, with experience supporting system testing and upgrades.
- Relevant tertiary qualification and/or substantial experience in a specialist rates and valuations environment.
