About the role 

We have an exciting temporary opportunity available until mid January 2027 for a Senior Social Research and Insights Analyst. Reporting to the Coordinator Research and Geospatial Analytics, you will work collaboratively across Council to support an evidence-based approach to policy development, priority setting and decision making by the organisation and the wider community. 
  
This position is a Temporary role and has the flexibility to be a full time or part time (4 days per week) position based at Knox Civic Centre. We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs of the role are met.

This is a Band 7 classified role. Remuneration will be $110,732.77 to $124,189.64 (depending on experience) (pro-rata for part time) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee. 

What you will bring to this role  

The key selection criteria for this role are: 

  • Graduate degree in Public Policy, Data Science, Analytics, Geospatial Sciences or other related field is desirable but not essential.
  • Demonstrated experience applying strategic and innovative thinking in the design and delivery of research, spatial analysis, and surveys that support strategic studies, policies, plans, and programs
  • Experience with software packages including PowerBI, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, QGIS, IntraMaps, FME  and/or with programming environments including SQL, R, Python, and Javascript are desirable but not essential.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret demographic data, spatial data, and survey data and to present insights effectively to a range of audiences using written, visual, and verbal means.
  • Excellent project management skills with experience managing complex projects on time and within budget, including design and scoping, project evaluation, and management of contractors, consultants, and subconsultants.
  • Well-developed project management skills with experience leading multi-disciplinary teams and working collaboratively and proactively with colleagues in diverse and dynamic environments.
