About the role 

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced event manager to join our Arts and Cultural Services Team.  

As our new Team Leader Festivals and Events, you will make a difference daily by planning, delivering and evaluating Knox City Council's festivals and events program, including flagship events like Knox Festival and Carols by Candlelight, pop-up activations and civic events, citizenship ceremonies and community event support. This role combines creative direction, operational expertise, stakeholder engagement, financial oversight and leadership to strengthen Council's arts, culture and placemaking initiatives.

You will report directly to the Coordinator, Arts and Cultural Services and work collaboratively with the team, across Council and with the community.

This is a full-time permanent role based at Wantirna. We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs of the role are met.

This is a Band 6 classified role. Remuneration will be $95,488.69 - $104,288.00 (depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee. 

What you will bring to this role  

The key selection criteria for this role are: 

  • Experience in the effective planning, delivering and evaluation of small to large scale community festivals and events, ideally within a Local Government context.
  • Ability to lead positive community engagement, partnerships, contractor and stakeholder relations.
  • Proven skills in creative programming and cultural development within the context of community events.
  • Working knowledge of industry best practice for delivering safe, compliant and lawful events.
  • Experience in supporting successful event marketing and communication campaigns.
  • Experience in managing budgets, contracts, procurement processes and external funding requirements.
  • Proven skills in staff leadership, mentoring and supervision, ideally within an event management context.
