About the role
As our new Stormwater Projects Engineer, you will make a difference daily by providing engineering insight and support across the team. With support from senior staff, you will provide advice in relation to public and corporate enquiries regarding integrated stormwater matters of a general and specific nature, including providing stormwater design advice. With input from the rest of the Strategic Integrated Stormwater team, you will provide technical direction and conditions for Building, Town Planning and Subdivisional development referrals within statutory timeframes. You will investigate and action stormwater matters including flooding and stormwater quality and/or stormwater harvesting requirements; Undertake investigations and prepare technical reports for review by senior staff on various stormwater related matters, including strategies and policies whilst collecting and analysing data for the preparation of stormwater strategies and catchment master plans as requested.
You will report directly to the Coordinator of Strategic Integrated Stormwater and work collaboratively with various internal and external stakeholders to support future development and the delivery of a number of key projects.
This is a full-time permanent role based at Knox City Council's Civic Centre in Wantirna South. We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs of the role are met.
This is a Band 6 classified role. Remuneration will be $95,488.69 - $104,288.00 (depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.
What you will bring to this role
The key selection criteria for this role are:
- Experience in Municipal stormwater systems and flood investigations (or equivalent integrated stormwater management experience).
- Experience in the use of QGIS, MapInfo and TUFLOW is highly desirable but not essential.
- Experience in the use of AutoCAD and Civil Site Design.
- Demonstrated knowledge in the application of best practice Catchment Hydrology, Water Sensitive Urban Design and Integrated Water Cycle Management principles with proficiency in the application of engineering theory, procedures, practices, Acts & Regulations.
- Experience in reviewing plans for construction, producing tender documentation and the procurement process.
- Experience in the project management of civil (particularly stormwater) projects.
- Hold appropriate tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or Environmental Engineering.
- Hold or be eligible for Professional Engineer Registration (issued by the Business Licensing Authority, Victoria) is desirable but not essential.
