About the role

Do you want a role that offers something different every single day? Our Prosecutions Team are an innovative group of professionals that strive to set new standards in community enforcement and safety. 

This position will support the Head of Prosecutions and Compliance Legal Counsel and is responsible for ensuring the smooth administration of the Prosecution Service by undertaking the preparation of charge-sheets, conducting research and completing other Court documents related to prosecutions.

As a Prosecution Officer you will bring to this role:

  • Ability to identify and handle competing priorities in a timely manner
  • Demonstrated application of records management policies and procedures in a legal setting.
  • Significant experience in a senior legal administration and/or paralegal role is essential.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to assist customers in a confidential and efficient manner as well as the ability to relate to personnel both internal and external of the organisation.
  • Represent Knox City Council in a professional manner when dealing with the community, occasionally in matters which may introduce conflict and strong disagreement into the communications.
  • Ability to prepare correspondence and legal documents to corporate or Court standards.
  • Understanding of and previous experience in the implementation of administration systems and procedures.
  • Knowledge and understanding of legal processes and procedures relating to local government enforcement and prosecutions is desirable.
  • A high level of demonstrated experience in the use of MS Office and Outlook and electronic database systems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to a team philosophy and a desire to contribute to improvements in work practices.
  • Excellent customer service skills and a high level of attention to detail.
  • Work independently with limited supervision, and with limited time constraints.


This is a full time temporary maternity leave replacement role based at Wantirna South until August 2026.  We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs of the role are met.

This is a Band 5 classified role. Remuneration will be $78,036.84 to $90,793.94 (depending on experience) (pro-rata for part time) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.
