About the role 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engagement Advisor to join our Customer and Communications Team.

As a senior advisor you will coordinate and provide advice on Council’s community engagement program to ensure activities are planned and implemented in accordance with Council’s Community Engagement Policy.

You will lead the implementation of our Community Engagement Policy and develop procedure and resources to support effective community engagement practices. You will work across the organisation, building capability to plan, implement and report on community engagement activities. Internally, you will facilitate a program of continuous improvement, collaboration and professional development.

This is a full time permanent role based at our Civic Centre however we can offer a range of flexible and hybrid work options for the right candidate.

This is a Band 7 classified role. Remuneration will be $107,507 to $120.572 (depending on experience) (pro-rata for part time) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee. 

What you will bring to this role  

The key selection criteria for this role are: 

  • Significant experience applying community engagement theory, principles and practices to develop, implement and evaluate community engagement plans.
  • Extensive experience selecting and implementing the most effective community engagement techniques for the situation to facilitate desired outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience in assessing capability and developing and implementing a plan to build capability, including coordinating formal training, mentoring and peer support.
  • Be curious about the world around you and the people in it, with a demonstrated ability to assess context, identify potential issues and strategically plan and adjust approach accordingly
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risks and provide strategic and technical advice on community engagement approaches to stakeholders at all levels of the organization
