We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Supported Playgroup Facilitator to join the Early Years Team. You will facilitate and deliver the Smalltalk Supported Playgroup program (funded by the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing (DFFH), including in home support, by providing opportunities for eligible families to develop parenting skills and confidence to support their children’s development.

The Supported Playgroup Facilitator is responsible for providing high quality learning opportunities for children and families that are consistent and align with the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework and National Quality Framework, develop relationships with local key stakeholders and referral sources to develop referral pathways, develop and implement strategies to support families to regularly attend and engage in the Supported Playgroups program and support families with transition planning by linking them with relevant community and support services.

This is a part-time permanent role based at Knox Civic Centre.

This is a Band 5 classified role. Remuneration will be $80,377.95 to $93,517.76 (pro rata) depending on experience, plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee. 

What you will bring to this role  

The key selection criteria for this role are: 

  • Experience in providing quality children’s programs using a strength-based family-centred approach
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and facilitate information and education groups for adults within set timeframes
  • Ability to plan effectively to support and link families to local support services
  • Ability to form and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders
  • Highly developed communication skills (both written and oral)
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills with a particular focus on strength based and customer focused approaches
  • Experience in the provision of services to children and families including dealing with people of diverse backgrounds, including those from CALD backgrounds, Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander backgrounds and families with children with disabilities.
