Knox City Council is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Bushland Management Officer
We have an exciting full-time position opportunity for a Bushland Management Officer in our passionate and innovative Biodiversity Team. Are you positive curious and passionate about the natural environment? Learn on the job skills to pursue a career in the Natural Environment.
This role is fundamental in protecting, enhancing and celebrating the sites of biological significance within the Knox municipality. In addition, this role will increase the appreciation and understanding of biodiversity values within the organisation and the broader community. You will also participate in biodiversity community events and activities.
This is a permanent position based at Civic Centre. Remuneration will be $80,377.95 to 93,517.76 gross per annum (depending on experience) plus allowances, plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.
What you will bring to this role
The key selection criteria for this role are:
- Highly developed knowledge of local indigenous plant communities, natural resource management practices, habitat connectivity enhancement, bushfire preparedness and fire regimes, plant ecology, pest plant and pest animal management, herbicide use and application.
- Experience in contemporary natural resource management work.
- Experience in community engagement and the ability to mentor/coach supporting environmental volunteers.
- Provide biodiversity expertise to the organisation.
- A high commitment to customer service.
- Experience coordinating and directing contractors.
- Experience in managing projects.
- Able to demonstrate an understanding of the biodiversity values of the natural environment, and the benefits for the local community.
- Ability to apply contemporary bushland management techniques.
- Understanding of water sensitive urban design assets and their management.
