About the Role
As Rates and Property Officer, you play an important role in supporting the accuracy, integrity and reliability of Council’s rating and property information systems. This role contributes to positive customer and organisational outcomes by ensuring property and rating data is maintained in accordance with legislative requirements, established standards and consistent system practices.
Working within the Rates and Property team, you will deliver operational rating and property activities including property record creation and maintenance, street addressing, subdivision processing and data monitoring across Pathway and related systems. You will respond to customer enquiries across multiple channels, maintain online ePathway accounts and process Land Information Certificates (LICs) in line with legislative and procedural requirements.
Through maintaining high-quality data and supporting clear, efficient processes, you will help ensure reliable rating administration and enable Council to deliver services effectively as customer expectations and digital channels continue to evolve. You will also contribute to process documentation and continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen workflows, consistency and operational efficiency.
This is a 0.32 FTE position working 12 hours per week (0.32 FTE), across 2 or 3 days between Wednesday and Friday, based at the Civic Centre. We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs of the role are met.
This is a Band 5 classified role. Remuneration will be $80,377.95 to $93,517.76 (pro rata for part time, depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.

The key selection criteria for this role are:
- Well-developed communication skills, with the ability to provide clear, accurate information and advice to customers and internal stakeholders
- A collaborative approach, contributing positively to a reliable, supportive and team-focused work environment
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to plan, prioritise and manage competing tasks to meet deadlines
- Sound judgement and decision-making skills, applying established policies, procedures and legislative frameworks to resolve issues
- A demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, including identifying opportunities to enhance processes, data quality and work practices
- Experience interpreting and applying local government rating processes, including property-based information and billing data
- Working knowledge of Pathway or a similar local government rating or property system (highly desirable)
- Ability to read and interpret subdivision plans and property-related documentation (highly desirable)
- Local Government experience highly desirable
