About the role
The Civic Events Officer is responsible for supporting the planning, coordination and delivery of civic and community events across Knox. Acting as a central point of contact, the role provides expert advice and guidance to internal teams and community groups on event planning, permits, risk and compliance requirements.
A key focus of the role is leading the delivery of Council's Citizenship Ceremonies, ensuring a high-quality, inclusive and well-governed experience for participants. The position also supports the delivery of Council's festivals, pop-up events and broader arts and cultural programs. Working as part of the Festivals and Events team, you will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders, including community organisers, contractors and internal departments, to deliver safe, well-managed and engaging events for the Knox community.
This is a full-time temporary role until December 2026, based at Wantirna South.
This is a Band 5 classified role. Remuneration will be $80,377.95 to $ 93,517.76 (depending on experience) (pro-rata for part time/fixed term) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.
What you will bring to this role
- Demonstrated experience in event planning, coordination and delivery, ideally within a community or local government environment
- Sound understanding of event permits, risk management, safety requirements and relevant legislation
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to effectively support and engage a diverse range of stakeholders
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver outcomes
- Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and contribute to a positive, values-driven culture
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using systems to support event administration and delivery
