About the role 

We are seeking a motivated Minor Works Foreperson to join our Civil Construction team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering important civil infrastructure projects that benefit our community every day.

As Foreperson, you will provide on-site supervision, guidance, and support to Civil Construction staff and contractors. Your leadership will help ensure the successful delivery of a wide range of projects, including:

  • Site preparation and earthworks
  • Drainage and pavement construction
  • Footpaths and minor concrete works
  • Retaining walls and other community infrastructure

Working closely with the Coordinator Civil Construction and the wider team, you will help drive project success while maintaining a strong focus on quality, safety, and collaboration.

This is a full-time temporary role based at the Operations Centre for approximately 6 months. 

This is a Band 5 classified role. Remuneration will be $80,378 to $93,518 (depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee and relevant allowances. 

What you will bring to this role  

The key selection criteria for this role are: 

  • Extensive experience in the delivery of a wide variety of civil construction projects including task allocation and supervision of construction personnel.
  • Demonstrated experience performing general labouring duties to facilitate the renewal and rehabilitation of community assets.
  • Demonstrated experience in municipal construction supervision and a good knowledge of civil engineering operations including; concreting, earthmoving plant and equipment, asphalt laying, drainage works and retaining structures.
  • A high degree of interpersonal skills.
  • The ability and willingness to teach in the areas applicable to this position.
  • The ability to analyse problems and make informed decisions on day-to-day basis.
  • Ability to provide sketches and perform calculations for the purposes of accurately delivering civil construction projects (i.e. setting out, working out grade lines, ordering materials, etc.)
  • Achieve results through efficient use of resources and a commitment to quality outcomes.
