About the role 

We have an exciting opportunity for a Geospatial Data Administrator to join our Research and Geospatial Analytics team in a 12 month, full-time temporary position, as part of Council’s City Futures department.  

As our new Geospatial Data Administrator, you will make a daily difference by maintaining Council’s geospatial systems and advising customers across Council in the areas of spatial analysis, data visualisation, analytics and data literacy. The key responsibilities include investigating and resolving core data issues, through regular maintenance and administration tasks, by undertaking research, data integration, extraction, transformation, validation and analysis. The role will also assist in delivering projects and programs that inform an evidence-based approach to policy development, priority setting and decision making by the organisation and the wider community.

You will report directly to the Coordinator Research and Geospatial Analytics and work collaboratively across Council.

This full time temporary 12 month role is based at Knox City Council Civic Centre in Wantirna South. We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring the operational needs of the role are met.

This is a Band 6 classified role. Remuneration will be between $95,488.69 to $104,288.00 (depending on experience) plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee. 

What you will bring to this role  

The key selection criteria for this role are: 

  • Understanding of Vicmap’s property and address maintenance process, plus a willingness to learn the organisation’s core databases and business processes.
  • Highly developed skills in the maintenance of business systems and processes, plus the management of Help Desk requests.
  • Strong experience in data administration and support of geospatial technologies and systems, plus the administration of relational databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and interpret spatial and non-spatial data and to present insights effectively to a range of audiences using written, visual, and verbal means, through maps, dashboards and reports.
  • Strong ability to establish and maintain key contacts, to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders, to determine needs, explain complex issues and concepts.
  • Tertiary qualification in geospatial sciences, information technology, computer science, engineering, geography or related discipline, or less formal qualifications with extensive experience.
