About the role 

At Knox City Council, the work we do every day has a real and visible impact on our community. Our Project Officer - Emergency Response delivers programs and services within the municipality to keep Knox and its people safe and prepared, including programmed maintenance for roads and road-related infrastructure and carparks, and preparing for and responding to potential extreme and high-risk hazards.

You’ll conduct inspections and identify risks related to Council’s assets, especially to civil infrastructure, assign and allocate maintenance schedules, and manage after-hours emergency response for the Engineering Services and Operations department. You’ll also lead a team to deliver high value customer service outcomes for the community.

This is a permanent, full-time role based at Knox City Council's Operations Depot in Knoxfield. We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs of the role are met.

This is a Band 6 classified role under the Knox City Council Enterprise Agreement. Remuneration will be $98,353.35 to $107,416.64 gross per annum (depending on experience), plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee. 

What you will bring to this role  

The key selection criteria for this role are:

  • Demonstrated ability to supervise and motivate staff and contractors to achieve established standards of performance.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse problems and make informed decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience in maintenance works and civil works.
  • Experience in emergency response management.
  • Knowledge of asset management, maintenance management, staff supervision and training, risk assessment and management, and the use of maintenance management systems.
  • Demonstrated experience and understanding of applicable technology and its development.
  • An understanding of costings, budgeting and reporting.
  • Knowledge and experience of the Occupational Health and Safety and Road Management Acts together with management systems QA principles and procedures.
